Group Dynamics - Part II

As the freshmen of Balay Lampirong draw ever closer to being in their second year, it is time for Part 2 of the Group Dynamics. All freshmen were divided into groups and each group was 'randomly' assigned to two upperclass residents who would facilitate the activities.

The different teams began by having dinner together at 6PM. The paging system blared with the upperclassmen reciting their group mates one by one. Most groups crammed into Heaven's Bliss Eatery which literally overflowed that they had to set up tables outside.

The different groups were scattered into every little corner of Balay Lampirong for their small group activities. Groups warmed up with some games before proceeding to more serious talk. The upperclassmen asked the freshmen about problems they encountered during their stay in the dorm and about their fears and apprehensions in becoming upperclass students themselves. At the end of the small group activities, the freshmen were asked to write a time-line of their life. There they wrote their aspirations in life and the little steps they took towards it.

After the small group talks, everybody met at the dorm lobby for the big group games. It was like sportsfest once again at Balay Lampirong. Odd vs. Even! The teams battled to find out how well they knew one another in the dormitory. To the players, the games proved just how hard it was to think logically whilst under pressure from dozens of opponents and teammates screaming all around you.

Group dynamics had a surprise ending when everyone sang Happy Birthday to their Ate Hedz. After blowing 21 candles, Jean Celeste Paredes received birthday messages from different team representatives. Holding a bunch of balloons, Ate Hedz's was happy. Just like the rest of the dormers after the Group Dynamics.

Drunken Man Sends HC Officers Under the Table

Last night, a mix of shouts and screams emanated from the Mini-Library from where the House Council Officers were meeting. It was about midnight. It was said that noise coming from the road adjacent the Mini-Lib prompted Rommel to open the windows. The instant they were open, somebody shouted "Panago! Panago!" (Hide! Hide!) Thinking somebody was going to open-fire on the dorm, the officers instinctively dove and hid beneath the tables. Meanwhile, Rommel and Jayson curiously surveyed the outside through the windows. After a while, realizing it was probably just a drunk somebody, the officers couldn't help but laugh at themselves.

Disturbed, Manong Larry who was in the next room told them to end the meeting since it was past midnight.

Officers, what really happened?:)

Noel's Hall 1 Shirt Design Victorious

The Hall 1 shirt design has finally been decided! Noel's design won a landslide victory over three others. The shirt will be worn by all Hall 1 residents in time during Lampirong Days. Watch out for it! Although it will have to be a surprise for non-Hall1 residents, here's a sneak peek:

Rez is at Sweet 16

Rez Regatalio, the youngest member of the Balay Lampirong family just turned 16! The celebration started when at the strike of midnight, Rez, who was pretending to be asleep and unaware of preparations, was wrapped in a blanket and carried off to the Study Hall where the rest of the Boys' Wing were waiting. Struggling free of the blanket, Rez was greeted with cheers, camera flashes, and his 2-layered makeshift cake made of penny rolls topped with chocolate pretzels, Nips, and 16 blue candles.

Then came "Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday! Happy birthday to you!" After blowing his candles, everybody was in a mad scramble to get a piece of the cake. Most were also armed with cups, spoons, and whatever, knowing there was ice cream in store.

So Rez! How does it feel to be a year older? That doesn't matter, you're still the youngest one in the dorm. Happy Birthday!

Manang Mik Welcomes Back the Hall1'ers

Balay Lampirong was one of only three dorms open on the first day of the year. The reason behind this is reportedly because Azin texted Ms. Tronco to open the dorm. The Hall 1 population that day was at 12. Two girls, and ten boys. The locator chart was still predominantly blue.

The first problem upon one's arrival - WHERE TO EAT?! The CDH was closed, and so was Lola's, Heaven's Bliss, and all the other eateries in trhe dorm area. Restaurants in Miagao town proper were similarly closed, or at least suspected to be..

After a couple of hours of everybody asking everyone else where to eat, we ended up deciding to eat at Manang Mik's house. We locked up the dorm and posted a sign "Staff and Dormers on meal break! Aren't they?! Be beck soon! Closed ang door!"

It was a long walk. We passed by dark, rough, and treacherous terrain. If you don't use your night-vision properly, you'll end up having a sticky, and stinking sole. Mooooo...

We (eventually) reached Manang Mik's house somewhere in Brgy. Mat-y. We sat down to watch the 4 million peso edition of Deal or No Deal while Manang Mik prepared dinner with the assistance of Abigail Buac who was with us.

Dinner was very good. A lot of food - tasty ones for sure. Main course was fried fish, tuyo, bihon, sotanghon, and meat loaf. Dessert was ginata-an and mango float. Lotsa' rice.... Yum!

Jetson was supposed to be arriving anytime. But the dorm was closed! The best we could do was bring him some rice and pork 'n beans for dinner. By the time we got back to Hall1, he was surely there, together with Mhyka and Pwek, waiting for us to return to open the door.

Thank you Manang Mik for the generous accomodation! If not for you, we would all have starved to death and the future of the world would be a big question (j/k!).
