The raging wind also threatened to bring total isolation to the dorm area when it toppled a large tree near the staff house area. All efforts to nudge it back in place failed.

During one of the expeditions, Julex also found several birds' nests - four in all - that fell from the trees. We did what we can to take care of the little birdlings but without their parents, their fate wasn't all that bright.

Aside from the rations of green mangoes with salt and patis, dormers were also rationed with cups of Selecta ice cream - mango and rocky road flavor - unmindful of the chilly temperature and wind. It's ice cream and ice cream is meant to be gobbled up regardless of the situation.

And this was the picture of Hall 1 for what seemed like a very long time. The board games donated by previous batches were put into full use during this time of catastrophic boredom.

Typhoons and black outs aren't that completely bad after all. It was a chance for the freshmen to temporarily shun their rooms and congregate at the grand lobby of Balay Lampirong. After the typhoon, everyone will eventually return to the scurry of their busy lives, and the board games will retreat to the drawers. However, I do hope the friendships started by Frank will outlast any typhoon that may later come. That's the stronger kind of H-bond. The Hall 1 bond.

oh yes..
ReplyDeleteI still can remember those days when we lost connection to the 'outside' world.. ahaha.. That one-week experience of no electricity, no TV, no Cellphones because wala na batteries.. Plus! wala pa gd ya WATER, (you forgot this kuya rex..), and Lola's was the place to be kay sila lang ang may water.. ahaha.. We were literally and figuratively trapped to the four walls of the dorm..
But with the bad things, comes happy memories. I remember those nights in the dorm when some of the upperclassmen pipz (joefah and the gang) had to put up a 'show' para lang ma-entertain kami.. ahaha.. Those mind-rattling 'ancient number', Listening, and 'this-is-open-this-is-close' games na marami sa mga first years ang nanakit ang ulo para lang mapakot ang mystery sang game..
These and a lot more, ang pumalit sa pagkabagot namin sa panahon ni FRANK..
It only goes to show that we don't allow anything or anyone (bagyo ka man) to hinder our happiness.. That we always see the bright side of everything.. Ahaha.. That's hall1 spirit.. And let us all keep that living inside us.. Go Lampirong..
..frustrated i was with that very day when Frank came..I was hoping to watch the ultimate concert of all tym..kaya nga bumagsak talaga ang langit at lupa ng di ako nakapanood, pumunta lahat sa Aklan..joke..but, really, seriously, subuan gid koh toh..but, on the brighter side, Kuya Rex was really correct of saying that H-Bonding was established during those days of calamity..super bonding gid sa lobby ang mga dormers -- forgetting all their assignments and school works coz classes were suspended..(yepey!!!)..i also got the chance to play basketball with my dormates during the strom..hahah..sadya!!!!alavit!!!
